James Cameron Reveals Avatar Blu-ray Release Date

UPDATE: A spokesman for Fox Home Entertainment said on Thursday night that the “3-D is in the conceptual stage and ‘Avatar’ will not be out on 3-D Blu-ray in November.”

The Wall Street Journal posted an interesting article today, in which James Cameron reveals a Blu-ray release date for Avatar as well as plans for a Christmas 3D release.

“We’ll do the Blu-ray and the standard def DVD April 22nd, that’s our plan as of right now, and that’ll be pretty much bare bones. And then we’ll do a value-added DVD and a 3-D Blu-ray in I think November sometime.” – James Cameron

April 22nd is Earth Day in the United States, the perfect time to release the very fitting Avatar. An official announcement will likely come very close to the release date to maximize theatrical revenue in the weeks before release.
