8/26/08 Disney Reveals Five Upcoming Platinum Blu-ray titles
The New York Times is reporting that Disney plans to bring Pinnochio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, and Beauty and the Beast within the next two years, in an effort to accelerate consumer adoption of the Blu-ray format.
The upcoming release of Sleeping Beauty this October will be the first platinum title on Blu-ray, followed by Pinnochio in March, and Snow White in October 2009.

We had previously revealed the November Blu-ray release, but Sony Pictures has officially announced This Christmas (2007) for a November 4th release date. Tech specs include a 1080p AVC/MPEG-4 video transfer, and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio.

8/23/08 Blu-ray Gets 'Cheetahlicious'
The film debuted on Disney Channel last night, but Disney already has plans to give 'The Cheetah Girls: One World' a November Blu-ray and DVD release date. There were tentative plans to bring the previous two films to Blu-ray as well, but we have not heard more on that.
8/23/08 High School Musical Goes Blu
Disney will be bringing both High School Musical and High School Musical 2 to Blu-ray this Fall. High School Musical 2 will be Disney's first re-release on the Blu-ray format, in the new 2-disc deluxe dance edition. Release date is expected to be October 21st.

8/21/08 Superman Returns, With Lossless Audio This Time!
Warner Bros. will bring Superman Returns to Blu-ray again, this time with Dolby TrueHD and PCM audio tracks. The release was previously only available with a purchase of a select Panasonic Blu-ray player, and the title has been Ebay gold, until now. The same version of the film many paid $100 or more to have, can be yours on September 9th.

The Weinstein Co. will release Fanboys (2008) on Blu-ray November 18th, day and date with the DVD. The release will include Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio, and a 1080p video transfer. We will update with cover art as soon as we recieve it.

8/16/08 Polar Express Re-release to include 3D version
We revealed the October release date last month, with out a clue as to what would be added. Nothing too exciting here, but it will include a 3D version of the film, includes 4 3D glasses also available on Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best Of Both Worlds Concert Tour Blu-ray, in stores Tuesday. As a reminder, the Polar Express re-release will street on October 28th, with a 34.99 MSRP.
8/15/08 The Incredible Hulk To Feature BD-Live/My Chat
The Incredible Hulk is coming October 21st, but more exciting is the Blu-ray exclusive features. The release will include BD-Live to enjoy while viewing the film, as well as My Chat! Watch the movie with your friends through online connectivity. The Blu-ray edition will not be so Blu though, it will be a collectibe 3D Packaging, in green!

8/11/08 Casablanca Coming To Blu-ray This December
Warner has announced a December 2nd release for the Ultimate Collector's Blu-ray Edition of Casablanca. The 2-disc set will include all the extras of the previous HD DVD release, as well a new documentary.
The set will include reproductions of props, passport holder, photo book, and a luggage bag. The extras will all be presented in standard definition. 64.99 MSRP.
8/11/08 Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray To Include DVD Copy Of Film?
Amazon.com has now listed the upcoming Disney Blu-ray release of Sleeping Beauty as Sleeping Beauty (Three-Disc Combo Blu-ray and Standard DVD) for the same MSRP of 34.99. We are still a bit unsure about the listing, could it just mean the third disc is DisneyFile (Disney's name for a digital copy), or is it in fact a real DVD version of the film? We will update as soon as we find out.

Universal plans to release Mama Mia! this November. The box office hit slipped under the radar due to The Dark Knight, but still managed to have one of the biggest opening debuts for a musical film.

Universal will release American Gangster, Casino, and Eastern Promises on Blu-ray October 14th. Each release will feature 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Each title will carry a 29.98 MSRP. No word on a 3-pack, but we would expect one to be released as well.
